MISSILES OF DEATH

MISSILES OF DEATH - According to an MSNBC report Iran's little Hilter Mahmoud Ahmadinejad again thumbed his nose at Israel and the US and test-fired nine long- and medium-range missiles in a war exercise conducted at the mouth of the Strait of Homuz on July 2, 2008.

Gen. Hossein Salami, air force commander of the Revolutionary Guards, said the missile firing was in response to enemies who have have threatened Iran with "harsh language." Really. Has Salami forgotten Ahmadinejad's threats to "wipe Israel off the map.''

"Our hands are always on the trigger and our missiles are ready for launch," said Salami. Sounds like saber rattling to me.

The barrage included a new Shahab-3 missile which has a range of 1,250 miles and can carry a nuclear warhead which puts Israel, Turkey, the Arabian peninsula, Afghanistan and Pakistan within striking distance. Iraq would also be in the crosshairs.

The Pelosi/Reid Democrats are in a state of shock over the missile firing and fears that Israel with the backing of the Bush administration won't wait until Bush leaves office to strike nuclear reactor sites in Iran.

Israel has already demonstrated its resolve to protect itself from such threats in the past. In 1981 Israel destroyed the Osirak nuclear reactor in Iraq shortly before it was to have begun operating. On September 6, 2007 Israeli jets knocked out a nuclear reactor site under construction in Syria. North Korea was assisting Syria in constructing the site and has long provided Syria assistance on a ballistic missle program.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the missile firing shows that Iran is a threat. Gates stopped short of commenting on possible pre-emptive strikes on Iran nuclear sites.

According to "leaked" Pentagon top secret documents US Special Ops troops have been on the ground inside Iran. There likely mission, although not disclosed, would be to conduct surveillance on possible military targets. You can bet the nuclear sites would be a top priority target.

US or Israeli air strikes in Iran would be strictly against military targets avoiding civilian population areas. It would not be, as the Democrats say, an all out war with Iran.

The Iranian people are being held hostage by Ahmadinejad and his thugs and many would be relieved to see his ouster and the removal of nuclear sites even if it meant by US or Israeli air strikes.

If I were Ahmadinejad I would be seeking immediate shelter in a deep underground bunker in an undisclosed location.

EL-KIKHIA STRIKES AGAIN - Mansour O. El-Kikhia's poison pen articles continue to grace the editorial pages of the Express-News. El-Kikhia, who has never met a terrorist he can't support, in his latest diatribe blames the United States and Bush I and Bush II for "opening the doors" for human rights abuses across the the globe. "Establishing a new global rudder needs to be the next president's primary task," extolls El-Kikhia.

According to El-Kikhia because of GITMO and Abu Ghraib Prison, America has no right to "scold" dictators for torture or human rights abuses. Really now, how can you compare conditions at GITMO and Abu Ghraib to terrorists who torture and behead innocent civilians and strap bombs on women and kids to kill and maim. Who have tortured and murdered captured US troops and mutilated their bodies. The videoed beheading of Nicolas Berg, a US citizen, at the hands of terrorists stand as a stark example of what the war on terror is all about.

There is one hell of a big difference between humiliating prisoners, as was the case at Abu Ghraib or waterboarding a few at GITMO, and the horrible atrocities committed by terrorists, al-Qaida in particular.

El-Kikhia has also blasted President Bush's recent Mideast trip as failure. And attacked Bush for calling Hamas and Hezbollah terrorist organizations while supporting Israel. He said most Arabs and Muslims don't agree with Bush. No kidding, that's really a big surprise. Who would have quessed that Arabs and Muslims, who refuse to recognize Israel, would disagree with Bush. Amazing.

In the meantime Hamas continues to fire rockets into Israel killing, wounding and terrorizing innocent civilians and refusing to recognize Israel's right to exist. And Hezbollah continues its efforts to takeover Lebanon and conduct additional missile attacks on Israel with the help of Iran and Syria.

El-Kikhia is further upset with Bush for calling Barack Hussein Obama an appeaser and comparing him with British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlin who appeased Hitler in WWII. Obama has said he would meet, unconditionally, with dictators and tyrants worldwide. Sure sounds like appeasement to me.

El-Kikhia says "it is imperative for the next American leader (he prays to Allah that it will be Obama) to talk to Hamas and Hezbollah." Obama is his man and willing and ready to meet with these thugs.

Continuing his attack on Bush El-Kikihia says, "The administration cannot claim the high ground when talking to dictators when its policies are in the mud." And blames these policies for human rights abuses in Chad, Dafur, Myanmar (Burma) and Somalia on the US. Dictators, he says, take their cues from "bad (like America) hegemonies."

He continues his drivel by saying he "feels sorry" for the next president because he will have to convince the world that the Bush administration is the exception, not the rule. That nasty old Bush. How sad.

What Bush I and Bush II did is show the world that America is willing and able to take on and defeat the armed thugs and dictators of the world who want to kill us and destroy our way of life. What really irks El-Kikhia and the Pelosi/Reid Democrats is that we are winning in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Following WWII America had not won a conflict until President Reagan sent US Marines and the 82nd Abn Division into Grenada in 1983 to rescue US students and oust Fidel Castro's armed Cuban thugs. And we have been winning ever since, except for Clinton's fiasco's in Mogadishu and Bosnia.

Korea was our first no-win war where, as Reagan once said, "It was okay to fight and die but not win because it might start a bigger war." Today a communist dictator in North Korea is threatening to nuke everyone. Then we cut and run in Vietnam after winning all the battles and a bunch of armed communist thugs are now running the place. Now the Democrats are doing their damnest to have us lose in Iraq.

Mansour O. El-Kikhia, besides being a Bush basher, is a hater of Jews and American policies of the Jewish State and a pal of Iranian President Ahmadinejad who wants to "wipe Israel off the map." His Express-News articles substantiate the charge. It's beyond me why EN editors continue to publish his anti-Jewish, anti-America garbage.

Most of us who still believe in America have a pretty good idea what El-Kikhia can do with his "new global rudder."

MEXICAN WAR - San Antonians are taking a long, hard look at all the ongoing violence across the border in Mexico. Most of the violence is the result of drug trafficking and has contributed to the rising crime rate in the Alamo City, especially murder.

Since 2006 over 4,000 people, including US citizens, have been killed in the Mexican Drug War and several times that number wounded. This doesn't take into account the number of casualties prior to 2006. Hundreds more have been driven from their homes and villages. Outgunned and outmanned police officers have thrown down their guns and badges and fled across the border into the US seeking refuge. Others have joined the drug cartels.

In two years of war Mexico has lost about the same number killed as the US has lost in over five years of fighting in the Iraq/Afghanistan War.

According to the Express-News Congress must help Mexico win their war against the drug cartel. And Congress agrees and has passed the Merida Initiative, a $1.4 billion measure to help Mexico win the war. What? Win the war? The Express-News and Congress want Mexico to win their war but they don't want us to win in Iraq. What kind of talk is that. Besides Sen. Harry Reid has said the war in Iraq is already lost.

How is it that Mexico can win their war with our tax dollars but we can't win the Iraq War. Where was Mexico when America went to war in Iraq and Afghanistan. President Vicente Fox heavily criticized the war when it started.

I haven't heard any support on the Iraq/Afghanistan War coming from Mexican President Felipe Calderon. The Express-News says Calderon cannot do it alone that the US must help train their police officers, enhance their intelligence capabilities and monitor their financial institutions to keep the criminals from laundering money.

I haven't seen any improvement in Mexico's government if anything it has only become more corrupt regardless of how much tax money we give them. What has Mexico done to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs into the US. Nothing, nada, zip, zero.

There are increasing reports that the Mexican military is involved with the drug cartels supplying them with weapons and providing security for their operations. In some instances the Mexican military has fired on US Border Patrols and even crossed the border into the US.

The Express-News says if US politicians are sincere about border security they must realize that the real threat comes from drug smugglers, not undocumented workers. It is time, they say, to help our neighbor help itself.

Baloney. If US politicians were sincere about border security they would have already secured the border with fences backed up by the US military and started rounding up illegal immigrants and kicking their butts back into Mexico where they belong. As far as drug smugglers and their Mexican Army pals are concerned let them run into a few M1 Abrams main battle tanks and see how far they get.

If the US government was really serious about cracking down on drug smugglers Bush would have already pardoned Border Patrol officers Ramos and Compean for shooting a fleeing mexican drug runner in the butt and fired Johnny Sutton for prosecuting them in the first place.

It's time for our "neighbor" to help itself and quit looking for handouts from US taxpayers. Instead of shelling out another $1.4 billion to "help" the corrupt Mexican government let's use that money to secure the border and deport illegal immigrants.

My choice for a man to put in charge of border security would be Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona. Bet that would send the right message to President Calderon and the Mexican drug cartel.

BIRDS OR BULLETS

Hipshots
Col. Miles

BIRDS OR BULLETS - San Antonians, including Mayor Hardberger, are taking a close look at Camp Bullis following reports that an endangered migatory bird could close Bullis and Fort Sam Houston.

The golden-checked warbler shows up at Bullis around spring time and heads south in the winter. As subdivisions and other businesses continue to build around Bullis the warblers are forced to seek refuge on the 27,994 acre reservation. Their presence as endangered birds interferes with the military training missons at Bullis.

In the event a compromise can't be worked out the military could decide to move the missions at Bullis to other military locations and force the base to be closed. Such a move could also threaten Fort Sam and Brooks Army medical Center by the base closure commission.

Hardberger has made it clear that he doesn't think a bird should close the base. He said, "I don't think a bird is the problem, here. The problem is encroaching development." Maybe, but the overall outcome is the same. A bird could close a much needed military base during a time of war. Just another way for the "endangered species" and anti-war, anti-military crowd to stick it to the military. This mindset shows just how far the country has sunk into the gutter since WWII.

Had this happened during WWII the endangered species wackos would have been rounded up and sent to prison. Sure, I like birds but aside from bird poop and eating a few insects what have they contributed to keeping America free compared to the military.

Camp Bullis has been around since 1917 when it was established to train troops for the upcoming WWI in Europe. Named after BG John Bullis, who as a lieutenant led the Seminole-Negro scouts during the Indian Wars, Camp Bullis continued to train troops through WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm One and the ongoing Iraq/Afghanistan War.

In 1977 the US Air Force established a training site called Victor Base to train securiy police. In 1996 Camp Bullis began creating more usable training areas for Army National Guard mechanized units, expand airflields, and setup training facilities for Fort Sam medical units. Marine units have since used the air strips for landing operations. Camp Bullis also boasts a well staffed hospital clinic that provides treatment to, not only active duty personnel, but military retirees and their dependents as well.

Hardberger and other politicians, military mission aside, realize the financial impact of losing Bullis and possibly Fort Sam would have on the economy. You can bet when politicians have a choice between dollars and birds our feathered friends are going to come out second best.

For the rest of us who believe in our military and winning the war on terror and a choice between bullets and birds the birds have to go. Let mother nature decide their fate. Defending the nation is more important.

DRILL NOW PAY LESS - San Antonians and the rest of the nation are still in a state of shock over rising gasoline prices. With a gallon of regular gasoline over $4.00 at the pumps folks are turning to smaller cars, motorcycles and motor scooters, car pools and mass transit. They are also begining to ask how we got into this fix in the first place.

The new Toyota plant just announced a lay off of 200 part-time employees as oil prices affect production of gas guzzeling pickups. Another wakeup call for the Alamo City. Rising food costs and higher utility bills are adding to the growing unrest.

The politicians answer to the oil crisis is to raise taxes on the oil companies and harass them before congressional committees. Leading the charge is Sen. Dick Durbin, D-ILL., who wants to pass a windfalls profit tax. Durbin, who compared US troops at GITMO to Nazi SS troops, wants to punish big oil for operating at a 4 percent profit while the federal government makes 15 percent on every gallon of gasoline sold.

The problem is not the big oil companies - the problem is the US Congress and politicians like Sen. Durbin who have placed oil and natural gas resources beneath federal lands and coastal waters off limits to development.

The American people are begining to see this and according to recent polls the percentage of voters blaming oil companies for rising gasoline prices has dropped from 34 percent to 20 percent over the last year. Support for more drilling in the US and off shore has increased to 57 percent from 41 percent.

America has plenty of oil in places like ANWAR Alaska and the Bakken fields beneath North Dakota and Montana. These oil fields hold an estimated 400 billion barrels of oil. In comparison, Saudi Arabia's biggest field, Gahawar, has an estimated 55 billon barrels. There is another 95 billion barrels offshore. Most is off limits thanks to Congress and envirnomental wackos.

No new refineries have been built in the US since 1976 again thanks to Congress and envirnomentalists who want to take America back to the stone age.

Don't expect much help from Obama and McCain. McCain is opposed to drilling in ANWAR and Obama had this to say about the energy crisis: "We can't tell other countries don't grow. We can't - drive our SUVs and you know, eat as much as we want and keep our homes on you know, 72 degrees at all times, and whether we're living in the desert or we're living in the tundra, and then just expect that every other country's going to say OK." Really. I guess Obama wants us to become a third world nation and this guy wants to be president.

When the Democrats won majorities in Congress in November, 2006 the average price of a gallon of gasoline in Houston was $2.03. Now that it's over $4.00 a gallon on their watch they want to tax the oil companies which will drive prices at the pump even higher.

Newt Gingrich, former Republican House Speaker, has a plan that he has dubbed Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay less. Makes a lot of sense to me.

The late economist Milton Friedman said it best, "The government solution to any problem is usually at least as bad as the problem." Amen to that.

ALAMO CITY HEROES - San Antonians, especially the family and friends of SA sons SFC Trey A. Corrales and Sgt Leonard Trevino, were elated when they were recently aquitted of murdering terrorist prisoners in Iraq. Both men were facing life sentences if convicted.

At last count 33 San Antonians , not to mention the number wounded, have been killed in the Iraq/Afghanisatn War by the same kind of murdering, scumbag terrorists Corrales and Trevino were accused of murdering.

It's tough enough that we send troops like Corrales and Trevino, both volunteers and heroes, to fight a bunch of cowardly terrorists who torture and murder, often by beheading, US troops and innocent Iraqi civilians, refuse to wear a uniform or follow any rules of warfare, and then charge them with murder.

US combat troops aren't a bunch of volunteers singing in the church choir on Sunday morning or helping old ladies cross the street. Fighting a war is just about the toughest, nastiest, dangerous job there is.

Unfortunately, Corrales and Trevino aren't by themselves in what has become an endless number of trumpted up court-martials of US troops accused of "murdering" terrorist prisoners or so-called civilians during battle. Fortunately, the majority of these case have ended in aquittals.

Two Marine officers in a unit that was accused of killing 19 Afghan civilians during a car bomb attack in 2007 were recently cleared of any wrong doing in the incident. Charges against Major Fred Gavin the unit's commander and Captain Vincent Noble a platoon leader were dropped following a Marine Court of Inquiry.

SFC Corrales has been in the thick of battle as evidenced by his many awards, including the Combat Infantry Badge, the parachutist badge, Ranger tab, the Bronze Star, two awards of the Army Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and 14 other decorations. Sgt Trevino is also a decorated combat veteran.

Corrales, Trevino, Major Gavin, Captain Noble, and others are victims of what many view as an unpopular war. These brave troops were thrown under the bus to appease those who hate America and the military and those in Congress who oppose the war.

People like Rep. John Murtha, D-Penn., who called US Marines cold-blooded killers. Sen. Dick Durbin,D-Ill., who compared US troops at GITMO to Nazi SS troops. Sen. John Kerry who accused US troops of terrorizing Iraqi women and children in the dark of night. And Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., Senate Majority leader who said, "The war is lost and the surge is not accomplishing anything." When this kind of treasonous talk is made by members of Congress the damage to military morale is enormous.

The liberal media applauds this kind of defeatist talk by their Democrat pals in Congress. The terrorist are encouraged by such talk and the kangaroo trials of our troops.

When Gen. David Petraeus appeared before Congress to report on the Iraq War Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY., and ex-presidential candidate said, "The reports you provide us really require the willing suspension of disbelief." In other words she called Gen. Petraeus a liar and got away with it.

When one of America's top generals is subjected to such shabby treatment by members of Congress is it any wonder that our troops are victims of trumpted up court-martials.

Recent rumblings in the Pentagon among the top brass have led to persistent rumors that a show-down is imminent with Secretary of Defense Robert Gates over "kangaroo courts." More to follow.

THE COURT-MARTIALS OF WAR HEROES

THE COURT-MARTIALS OF WAR HEROES - San Antonian natives SFC Trey A. Corrales and SGT Leonard Trevino were charged with murdering terrorist prisoners in Iraq. If convicted they could have been sent to prison for life. Corrales was tried in Hawaii and Trevino was tried at Ft Hood Texas.

After spending months in limbo and going throught hell not knowing what their fate would be they were both acquitted of all charges. Two brave and courages soldiers who had laid their lives on the line for their country were treated like a couple of common crimnals. Damn the military for charging them in the first place.

At last count 33 San Antonians, not to mention the number wounded, have been killed in the Iraq/Afghanistan War by the same kind of murdering, scumbag terrorists Corrales and Trevino were accused of murdering.

It's tough enough that we have to send troops like Corrales and Trevinio, both volunteers and heroes, to fight a bunch of cowardly terrorists who torture and murder US troops and innocent Iraqi civilians, refuse to wear a uniform or follow any rules of warfare, and then charge them with murder for killing one.

US troops, especially combat troops, aren't a bunch of volunteers singing in the church choir on Sunday morning and helping old women cross the street. Fighting a war is just about the toughest, nastiest, dangerous job there is. As a combat veteran of three combat tours in Vietnam I know just how tough it is.

Unfortunately, Corrales and Trevino aren't by themselves in what is becoming an endless number of trumpted up court-martials of US troops accused of "murder" everytime a so-called "civilian" is killed during a firefight. In their cases it was a terrorist prisoner. Fortunately, and in their trials, the majority have ended in aquittals or significantly reduced sentences.

Corrales has been in the thick of battle as evidenced by his many awards and decorations. He has the Combat Infantry Badge (CIB) a much coveted badge awarded to soldiers who have been under enemy fire, the parachutist badge, a Ranger tab, the Bronze Star, two awards of the Army Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and fourteen other decorations. Trevino is also a decorated combat veteran. Hardly the type of awards worn by some rear area, desk bound staff officers or noncoms who have never felt the sting of battle.

I suspect that Corrales and Trevino are a couple of decorated combat warriors who have been the victims of what many view as an "unpopular war." Both were thrown under the bus by the military brass to cover their own rearends and appease the politically correct crowd, those who hate America and the military and those in Congress who oppose the war.

People like Rep. John Murtha, D-Penn., who called US Marines cold-blooded killers. The Marines Murtha accused were later aquitted of all charges. Peolple like Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., who compared US troops at GITMO to Nazi SS troops, Sen John Kerry, who accused US troops of terrorizing Iraqi women and children in the dark of night. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., Senate Majority leader said, "The war is lost and the surge is not accomplishing anything." When this kind of treasonous talk is made by members of Congress with impunity the damage done to the military is enormous.

The liberal media, of course, applauds this kind of talk from their pals in Congress. The terrorist throughout the world and especially those in Iraq and Afghanistan are encouraged by such talk and the court-martials of our troops who are fighting and dying in defense of freedom.

Rarely are US troops the subject of news articles when they are decorated or win battles in Iraq or Afghanistan. Only when the news is bad, such as the trials of soldiers like Corrales and Trevino, is it news worthy and front page material. The liberal editors of the San antonio Express-News made sure the article on Corrales' trial was on the front page with a color photo of Corrales in his uniform.

SFC Paul Smith was the first soldier to receive the Medal of Honor (posthumously) in the Iraq War. SFC Smith was killed while manning a heavy machinegun in which he killed 50 attacking enemy troops in Baghdad. His actions saved many lives of US troops in his unit. You had to look hard to see it mentioned anywhere in the liberal newspapers or hear it on TV or the radio.

When Gen. David Petraeus, America's top general in Iraq and a highly decorated combat trooper, appeared before Congress to report on the war and his troops he was not well received by the Democrats chairing the committees in both the Senate and the House.

Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY., and presidential candidate, told Gen. Petraeus, "The reports you provide us really require the willing suspension of disbelief." In other words she called the top general in Iraq a liar and got away with it. Where was the outrage on the part of the Republicans on the committee. If there was any it didn't amount to much more than a whisper. The liberal press didn't make much of it, which was no surprise.

When one of America's top generals is subjected to such shabby treatment by members of Congress and the liberal press is it any wonder that our troops are victims of trumpted up court-martials.

The military has been given a raw deal ever since MacArthur was fired for insisting on winning the Korean War. In WWII American troops were not hauled before a military court for killing prisoners or when civilians were battle casualties. A single soldier, charged with desertion, was executed by firing squad in all of WWII. The enemy on the other hand, executed thousands of their troops. Russia under Stalin purged the military killing and sending to prison tens of thousands including generals.

The big question remains as who in the hell is looking out for our combat troops who are bearing the brunt of war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Where were Corrales and Trevino's superior officers, the platoon leaders, company commanders, battalion and regeimental COs, the division commander in these trumpted up trials. Congress dismisses the top general's report on the war as a bunch of lies. It's up to Secretary of Defense Robert Gates to put a stop to Rules of Engagement (ROE) that are getting our troops killed and wounded and back up his generals in stopping these kangaroo type court-martials.

The enemy dosen't follow the Geneva Convention or recognize any rules of warfare other to win by any means thay can. Why should our troops be forced to fight with one hand tied behind their backs.

The enemy should be made to fear our troops as was the case in WWII. The Japanese feared US Marines and the Germans feared US paratroopers who were called "Devils in baggy pants." When a bunch of terrorists have their heads hacked off with a bayonet they'll get the message that the rules of engagement have changed.

During WWII when asked about war Gen. Curtis Lemay replied, "I'll tell you what war is all about; you've got to kill people, and when you've killed enough they stop fighting." I wonder what todays congressional Democrats and the liberal media would say to that.

SFC Corrales and SGT Trevino should be decorated and promoted. The general that ordered the trial and military lawyers who tried them should be relieved of duty, demoted and assigned to the most dangerous combat areas in Iraq. If they're lucky and survive then maybe they'll know what it's like to "feel the sting of battle."

I hope Robert Gates, Congress, and the liberal media are listening.

Liberal's Lover Death, Rue Success

The liberal media and their Democrat pals in Congress can't restrain their joy over the latest casualty figures in the Iraq/Afghan War. Finally, over 4,000 US troops have been killed in the War on Terror and another 28,000 wounded. The Pelosi/Reid "cut and run" crowd along with Barack Hussein Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton can't wait to wave the "White" surrender flag.

In San Antonio the usual America is bad and the military is even worse crowd continues to serve up their liberal garbage on how bad the war is going.

Leonard Pitts, whose liberal, anti-war articles appear in the Express-News on a regular basis, doesn't believe anything is worth fighting for. "The overriding truth of this war is it should never have been fought," says Pitts. Pitts says he is more concerned about the price of gas than the price of war. Bush, he says is a "fear-mongering" leader who tries to stampede us into unwise action.

"At some point, you have to stand up and be brave. Stand up like American women and men. This, we have largely failed to do," said Pitts. What kind of crap is that. The folks who have stood up and been brave are not the likes of Pitts and his peace at any price cronies. The ones who have stood up are the brave American troops who are slugging it out with the enemy 24-7 in Iraq and Afghanistan and get this Pitts, they're winning.

Only when it's a bad day in the war do we hear it mentioned in the news media. Winning battles seems to have little effect on todays media folks. US troops are out of sight and out of mind unless they are facing kangaroo style military court-martials for being too tough on terrorists. Then they have to report on those nasty US troops.

Not much is said about the real atrocities committed by the enemy on a daily basis in Iraq and Afghanistan. Cutting off the heads of helpless victims with a dull knife is one of their specialties. The US has been condemned by the liberals for "waterboarding" the bad guys. Torture they cry while remaining silent on the terrorists torturing and beheading helpless victims and killing innocent men, women and children with suicide bombers and IEDs.

Of course in the eyes of the liberals US troops are the bad guys and the terrorists are "Freedom Fighters." Don't be surprised if Hanoi Jane shows up in Baghdad holding the knife for the terrorists in support of the next beheading.

If we had the same crowd running Congress and the media during WWII we would all be speaking German, Italian and Japanese today. Fortunately for America the people, including the White House, Congress and the media were united against the enemy. Unfortunately, that's not the case today. The Democrats and a few Republicans (RINOs) want to "cut and run."

When you call the defeatists unpatriotic they really get upset. If you don't support the war you aren't supporting the troops folks. The mission of US troops is to win not lose wars. We cut and run in Korea and again in Vietnam and we saw where that got us. A nut case communist dictator in North Korea threatening to nuke everyone and a bunch of armed, communist thugs in power in Vietnam.

Let's face it - America just isn't the same country that it was when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Oh sure, members of Congress stood on the steps of the Capitol and sang God Bless America as show of unity after the 911 attack, but that didn't last long. When it came to taking the fight to the enemy the Democrats ran like frightened sheep. The Pelosi/Reid gang is still wringing their hands in despair and lamenting that it's just too tough we can't win in Iraq we must surrender. Sadly, a few Republicans are saying the same thing.

In WWII on June 6, 1944, 156,000 allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy in "Operation Overlord." In the face of determined Nazi resistance they held the beaches. In less than an hour over 2,500 allied troops were killed and several times that number wounded. But they didn't give up, even when the issue was in doubt and the invasion almost called off. Gen. Eisenhower had written a note accepting full responsibility if the invasion failed.

Throughout WWII US troops faced horrendous battles with enemy troops. The Japanese in the Pacific and the Germans in Europe. Huge blunders were made and battles lost. Generals and admirals were relieved but we didn't give up. The fight went on even when the outcome was in serious doubt. There were no calls from members of Congress to surrender to cut and run.

The battle of Iwo Jima, fought in February and March of 1945, resulted in over 6,800 American battle deaths. Joe Rosenthal took the famous photo of the US Flag being raised over Mount Suribachi. Over 21,000 Japanese troops, who refused to surrender and fought to the last man, were killed. Very few prisoners were taken.

When Secretary of the Navy James Rosenthal, who accompanied Marine Gen. Holland "Howlin' Mad" Smith to Iwo Jima, saw the flag raised on Suribachi he remarked to Smith," Holland, the rasing of that flag on Suribachi means a Marine Corps for the next five hundred years." Let's hope he was right.

The nation lost over 300,000 American GIs killed in WWII another 36,000 in Korea and 55,000 in Vietnam. Only in Korea and Vietnam we quit before the job was done. The Democrats want us to quit in Iraq.

Gen. David Petraeus appeared before Congress on April 8, 2008, and told a Senate committee chaired by Sen. Carl levin, D-Mich., that he wants a 45-day 'period of consolidation and evaluation' once the extra combat forces ordered to Iraq have completed their pullout in July. He did not commit to a timetable to troop withdrawals. In other words Petraeus told Congress I'm commanding the Iraq War and I'll decide when troops will be withdrawn and sent home not Congress.

Good for him - I would have used stronger language but I'm not Petraeus. Here's what he should have said, "We're winning in Iraq senator, no thanks to you and the other Democrats. My troops have never lost a battle and they're killing those damn terrorists by the truck load. You give us the support we need and we'll end this damn war with a big victory for America. We're not leaving until the job is done. Now if you'll excuse me I have to get back to the war."

Levin responded with a typical we 'must surrender' reply by saying,"What you've given to your chain of command is a plan which has no end to it." No thanks, no you're doing a great job in Iraq, nothing, nada, just negative, defeatist comments. These bum have got to be thrown out of office.

America is in a war that if lost could spell real trouble for our country. Yet, in spite of this congressional Democrats are still clamoring for a pull out of our troops. They're invested in defeat not victory. The Democrat presidential contenders Barack Hussein Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton are also campaiging on defeat in Iraq. It's hard to believe that these two senators and their party have so little faith in the US military to win the war.

Sen. John McCain, Republican nominee for president and ranking Republican on the committee said, "Today it's possible to talk with real hope and optimism about the future of Iraq and the outcome of our efforts there."

Not a bad reply but it could have been a lot better along the lines of, "Thanks to Gen. Petraeus and his troops we're winning in Iraq. Frankly Mr. Chairman I'm fed up with all this surrender talk I've heard from the Democrats. We should be asking what does the general and his troops need from us to assure victory in Iraq not when will they retreat." The troops would have been inspired and it would have gotten him a whole bunch of votes in Nov. 08.

A big problem in politics and in fighting wars is that those in charge are afraid to say what they really think. Afraid of what the liberal media will do to them. What this country needs is another fiery president like Teddy Roosevelt and tough, give em' hell, generals like MacArthur and Patton, salty old admirals like Bull Halsey, and a German field marshall like Erwin Rommel. In a nation with a population of over 300 million, not counting 20 to 30 million illegal immigrants, there has to be such men. Only where in the hell are they?

Gen. Petreaus must have felt that he had appeared before an al Qaida Terrorists tribunal.

LIBERALS, RIVARD AND ANIMAL RIGHTS

LIBERAL EDITORS - Finally, Bob Richter, public editor for the Express-News and his liberal editor pal Robert Rivard admit they're Democrats. Both of these whiz boys had columns in the March 16, 2008, Express-News issue.

Commenting on the downfall of New York's ex-governor Eliot Spitzer, Richter said, "For readers who claim - sometimes rightly - that the Express-News only reports the political affililation when the person committing a stir is a Republican, Spitzer is a democrat."

Big deal. So the liberal, we love Democrats, Richter is patting himself on the back for running a few Spitzer articles. It was a big story Bob. There wasn't a paper in the entire nation that didn't run it front page. Many however, couldn't bring themselves to identify Spitzer as a "Hillary" Democrat. It must have been tough on you to type Democrat after Spitzer's name.

Richter's pal Robert Rivard wrote a farewell article on Gen. James Peake Ret., secretary of Veterans Affairs. "It's too bad a person of such accomplishment will lose his job early next year, but after four months in office, James Peake knows he is on his way out," said Rivard. Really. Says who, besides Rivard.

Rivard is assuming that a Democrat, Barack Hussein Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton, will win the White House. Should McCain win then Peake may well be kept on as top gun at Veterans Affairs. As Rivards said," It would send a powerful message for the next occupant (please let it be a Democrat) of the White House to leave a few good people in place at the top."

Bush kept some Democrats (a big mistake) on board when he won the White House. Most notable was George Tenet, CIA director (a Clinton appointee).
Tenet told Bush that the case for Saddam possessing WMD's was a "slam dunk."

Well, there you have it Bob and Robert finally admitted they're big time liberal Democrats. Actually, all you have to do is read their leftist slanted E-N editorials. Too bad E-N is the only printed newspaper in town. In case you want to check out a more conservative news source check out the San Antonio Lightning News on your computer. As Ricky Ware would say, "It'll knock your hat in the crick."

PET KILLERS - People who torture and kill pet animals, dogs and cats, for fun are sickos in my book. They should be whipped in public and run out of town. Paying a fine and spending some time in the county jail would also be fitting punsihment.

However, animals are animals not humans. No one should face long prison sentences or exorbitant fines for killing an animal. That punishment should reserved for humans who kill humans. And don't get me wrong I love animals, especially cats and dogs. I often said I prefer my little dog "Cookie" to some folks I've met. It shouldn't be against the law to "stomp" someone's butt for mistreating animals.

Timothy Michael Gereb, 48, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on sex trafficking. Gereb lured teenagers and young women in Mexico to San Antonio and then forced them into prostitution. The scumbag should have received a life sentence.

Justin Allmon, 23, also faces 10 years in prison, but not for forcing Mexican teenagers and young women into prostitution. Allmon's crime? He killed his pit bull after the dog attacked him. A witness called the police and SAPD Police Officer Arturo Rodriguez showed up and questioned Allmon. Rodriguez let Allmon go saying,"I didn't think it was and offense. Texas law allows an owner to kill a vicious dog. End of story.

Unfortunately for Allmon, someone called the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Allmon had killed the dog by stabbing it several times with a knife. "Torture" they cried. How terrible. The Bexar County district attorney's office charged Allmon with animal cruelty.

Prosecutor Nicole Thornbro told jurors in Allmon's trial, "He jumps on it and stabs it over and over and over again." I guess if Allmon had only stabbed the dog a couple of times he wouldn't be on trial. His lawyer said Allmon was only defending himself after the dog bit him. "Justin, to defend himself, pulled out a knife and stabs the dog," he said. Sounds like a defense to me. What was he supposed to do let a vicious dog continue to attack him.

What's next in the "animal rights" crusade - capital punishment, a life sentence? The criminal justice system is out of whack when animals are put on the same level with humans.

KEN ALLARD - As a fellow retired colonel I applaud retired Col. Ken Allard for the insightful articles he writes for the Express-News. Most articles deal with the military and are "tell it like it is" backed up with a long and distinguished Army career.

Allard tweaked a few political noses in a Feb 27, 2008, E-N article "Who has what it takes." In the article he brings to question whether Hillary Rodham Clinton or Barack Hussein Obama are prepared to become commander in chief.

Sounding like an old, crusty first sergeant, Allard said," No and hell no!"

Hillary, says Allard, talks a good game but has tied her presidential ambitions to to the defeatist MoveOn.org wing of her party. He goes on to point out that any flag officer comtemplating serving under her command should recall her icy contempt with which she sneered that the testimony of Gen. David Petraeus required "the willing suspension of disbelief." I couldn't agree more.

Allard says Obama is even worse, with no experience or competence in defense or foreign policy. Obama, he says, believes 9-11 represented nothing more than chickens coming home to roost, would not have used the military to stop Saddam and regards Iran's nuclear ambitions with "ambivalent equanimity." Amen to that.

Allard also had some harsh words for Republicans for not learning from Bush's mistakes in handling the Iraq War. Mistakes that could put a Democrat in the White House.

Allard believes Republicans have forgotten the principle lesson of Ronald Reagan: that the voters who really matter are not the country-club high rollers but the blue-collar Bubbas driving pickups. He's right.

In an E-N letter to the editor entitled "Dump old toolbox," Bill Celaya takes Allard to task. Celaya, typical of most liberals, says "this country is in its current foreign affairs debacle because well-intentioned Americans have been hoodwinked by jinoist writings such as those of Ken Allard."

"Experience" is the key, he suggests McCain has it, Obama doesn't Celaya writes in his letter. He says Allard and McCain remind him of the old saying, "When your only tool is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail."

He concludes by saying "What the country desperately needs is leadership with a bigger toolbox." Maybe but we tried that with a carpenter by the name of Jimmy Carter and you see where that got us.

What we don't need is a leader who wants to blame America first, surrender in Iraq, meet with dictators like Mahmoud Amadinejad and Hugo Chavez, and disarm America.

Kudos to Col. Allard for standing up for America.

Cop Haters

Regardless of what SAPD Chief William McManus "Big Mac" does it just isn't good enough for the Express News and their liberal, anti-police editors. If they're not busy bashing Bush, knocking the military and the war on terror they're working overtime trying to make SAPD look bad.

SAPD has had its share of problems to be sure but Big Mac has been on top of them from the day he arrived in the Alamo City. When police officers have been up to no good he has been quick to discipline them. He hasn't led the department from behind his desk. He's on the streets and in the communities talking to people and putting the bad guys on notice. Big Mac is "walking tall."

In an effort to combat violent crime, and let's not kid ourselves San Antonio has had it's share of murder, armed robberies, and assaults, Big Mac formed the Tactical Response Unit (TRU) to deal with the problem. TRU has 65 officers assigned and operate in high crime areas. Target areas where criminals "ruled' the streets dealing in drugs, prostitution, and assaulting and murdering anyone that got in their way.

Big Mac summed it up this way," Consistent and aggressive traffic enforcement reduces crime. The people who are out there committing robberies and doing drive-by shootings, and selling drugs, they get around by car. So if you're making these kinds of stops, you're eventually going tostop some of these people." Make sense to me.

TRU officers have one hell of a tough job on their hands. They're on the front lines facing some of the most vicious and dangerous criminals in San Antonio. Sometimes they have to play rough in dealing with these scumbag criminals who would knife you in the back or shoot you in the head without thinking twice. It takes a special police officer to deal with the vermin running loose in the streets day and night. It takes guts to do what they're doing.

Many of the criminal scumbags they encounter on a daily basis happen to be blacks and Hispanics and that always leads to complaints that TRU officers are "picking" on minorities. The Express-News always manages to find a few isolated cases where the TRU arrested someone whose case was later dropped for insufficient evidence. I guess the TRU should arrest a few whites just to make it look more "fair."

According to the Express-News Officer Kristopher Newman a TRU officer, tried to detain Christopher Cook, a black, and when Cook ran Newman caught up with him and hit him on the head with his flashlight when he struggled with Newman. Cook, who had several prior criminal convictions, was arrested on charges of resisting and evading arrest and for two outstanding warrants. Kudos to officer Newman for getting another scumbag off the streets.

The Express-News doesn't think Newman did a good job and said the police need more than a "hunch" to stop someone. Really. Newman had a damn good "hunch" that Cook was a bad guy. The areas that TRU patrols are known hangouts for thugs and they know who the bad guys are. When they detain someone it's based on surveillance and not just a "hunch."

Gerald Reamey, a liberal, bleeding heart, law professor at St Mary's University doesn't think Newman did a good job either. Reamey says such stops can strain a police department's relationship with a community. I wonder if the victims of Crook's crimes agree with Reamey. I'll bet the families who have lost children to drive-by shootings by roving gangs of thugs appreciate the efforts of the Tactical Response Unit.

Give 'em hell Big Mac!"

I see where one of my favorite preachers, John Hagee endorsed John McCain for president. Hagee is a real bible thumping, tell it like it is Texas preacher. His fiery sermons have congregations sitting on the edge of their seats and
radio and TV audiences across the nation applauding his every word.

Hardly a Sunday goes by that I don't catch Hagee's Sunday morning radio broadcast. Usually I'm at my small ranch in the hills north of Hondo with my little dog "Cookie" and an old stray gray cat that showed up one day that I named "Smokey." I listen to Hagee's radio sermon over a breakfast of bacon and eggs.

Of course the liberals aren't too fond of Hagee who preaches family values; returning God, bible and prayer to public schools; opposing same-sex marriage; supporting the Iraq War and standing up for America. Hagee is also a fierce defender of Israel and has made numerous trips to that nation over the years.

Hagee has been doing something right as evidenced by Cornerstone Church that he founded and boasts almost 20,000 members. Hagee just celebrated his 50th anniversary as an envangelical minister. Hagee's son Matthew is also a minister and Hagee's wife Diane is an active member of the church and frequent speaker on religious values and issues.

In the eyes of the Pelosi/Reid crowd John Hagee is a threat to their liberal view of America. Hagee has taken Pelosi and Reid and their cohorts to task time and again for their anti-military stance and support of abortions.

McCain, contrary to what the liberals say, is fortunate to have Hagee's endorsement. Here's what he had to say: "I'm very honored by Pastor John Hagee's endorsement today. He has been the staunchest leader of our Christian evangelical movement in many areas, but especially, most especially, his close ties and advocacy for the freedom and independence of the state of Israel."

"Victory is within our grasp because John McCain knows it's never wrong to do the right thing," said Hagee.

It's now up to Sen. McCain to unite the party and campaign on conservative values and issues. He has his work cut out for him.

As Larry the Cable Guy would say: "GIT R DONE!

Of Madmen, Meat Cleavers And Firearms

I don't know about the rest of you folks but I'm fed up with of Mansour O. El-Kikhia's raving and ranting about how terrible the United States is. His anti-America "poison pen" articles that appear in the Express-News makes one wonder whose side he's on. America or its enemies at home and abroad.

His slanted articles, from the war on terror and the econmy to politics, have certainly been encouraging to Al Qaida and foreign governments hostile to the US. It makes me suspect that he's an undercover reporter for Aljezeera, the largest Arabic news source in the Middle East and mouthpiece for Al Qaida.

He says Barack Obama is his choice for president and slammed the door on Republicans. "Electing a Republican for another four years would be disastrous for the United States. Obama can represent the new world order," he says. Really. And just what in the hell is the new world order. Obama's first 'new world' order would be to "cut and run" in Iraq and let Al Qaida win.
Kikhia says, "The name Barack is a derivative of the Arabic word Baraka, which means divine blessing." No kidding. That really makes me fell warm and fuzzy about Obama who refuses to wear the US Flag lapel pin or recognize the National Anthem or the Pledge of Allegiance. No thanks.

He laments that unemployment and inflation have risen to rates never seen before, as has hatred for the US. I guess Kikhia has forgotten that unemployment and inflation were in double digits during the Jimmy Carter administration and that Carter, with the exception of a blotched rescue attempt, sit on his butt while Iran held 52 US citizens for over a year until President Reagan came along.

In his latest diatribe Kikhia is upset over the "economic stimulus" package that will return $165 billion in cash payments to American families and businesses. "America (federal government) needs the money more than we (taxpayers) do," he says. In other words, to hell with the taxpayers big government needs this money to squander on "bridges to nowhere," more welfare programs and foreign aid to countries that hate us and burn our flag.

"I am tired of hearing that both the debt and deficits are miniscule in comparison to America's wealth," Kikhia says. He may be tired of hearing it but it's true. Sure we've got problems but the economy of the country is still strong with unemployment and inflation at record lows, especially in comparison to the Carter years.

He says the US is not as powerful as it was after World War II because of the Bush administration, which posterity will hold responsible for "screwing up a wonderful country." Baloney. Thanks to Reagan and Bush and in spite of the Clinton years, the US is still the most powerful nation on earth, both militarily and economically. Far more powerful and prosperous today than we were immediately following WWII.

Kikhia points out that "those guys in Washington" are always quoting President Kennedy's famous comment of "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country," but they never live up to it. Maybe, but here's what Kennedy had to say about tax cuts in 1962: "Our true choice is not between tax reduction, on the one hand, and the avoidance of large Federal Deficits on the other. It is increasingly clear that, no matter what party is in power, so long as our national security needs keep rising, an economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough revenue to balance the budget - just as it will never produce enough jobs or enough profits. The soundest way to raise revenues in the long run is to cut taxes now." Well, how about that folks and from a Democrat no less.

What Kikhia and other liberal, socialists of his ilk fail to understand is that the government produces no wealth. All wealth is produced in the private sector by working Americans. The only money the federal government has is what it takes from citizens in the form of taxes. The latest economic stimulis package is only returning tax money to the taxpayers. In reality its another "tax cut." It worked for Kennedy in 1962 and it's working for Bush now.

As a note of interest - the 16th Amendment passed by Congress in 1909 and ratified in 1913, established the Federal Income Tax. "Congress shall have the power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any cenus or enumeration." In other words "give Uncle Sam your money suckers."

***

Northern Illinois University's "Gun Free Zone" policy, as was the case in the Viginia Tech shootings, failed once again. This time to stop a gun toting nut-case from killing seven students and wounding a dozen more before turning the gun on himself.

Instead of admitting that "Gun Free Zones" don't work, the liberal media and their equally liberal, anti-Second Amendment, university professors and officials, go on about what a great student the killer was. The problem they say is that gun control laws just aren't tough enough.

What they don't want to admit is that Steven Kazmierczak, the 27-year-old killer that went on a shooting spree could have been stopped if the university had an "armed" security force or allowed students or staff to carry or have quick access to a firearm. Simply put when heavily armed, nut-case Kazmierczak showed up he could have been taken out with a couple of well placed shots. End of problem.

Let's face it, there's a lot of nut-cases running around that should be locked up in a mental institution. Unfortunately, many are given a bunch of pills and turned loose to roam the streets and universities. If you happen to be the next murder victim of one of these nuts it doesn't make any difference whether he was crazy or not you're still just as dead.

The liberals solution is always the same "pass more gun control laws." None of which has ever reduced crime or its rate of increase. Jurisdictions with the most restrictive gun control laws and policies have the highest crime rates compared to those with less restrictive ones.

Not all crazies use firearms to kill their victims. In new York city a known nut-case 39-year-old David Tarloff, was arrested for killing a woman with a meat cleaver and injuring a man who came to the victim's aid. In San Antonio Tommy Flores was arrested for killing his grandmother with a meat cleaver and shooting his girlfriend to death. I guess the liberals solution here would be to "regulate" meat cleavers and require backgound checks before being allowed to buy one.

On tuesday evening, Feb. 12, 2008, therapist Kathryn Faughey was slashed 15 times with a meat cleaver and a 9-inch knife in her Manhatten office. Dr. Kent Shinbach was badly injured when he came to Faughey's aid.

According to neighbors, Tarloff was a "troubled" man who would wander the halls half-dressed. He had been arrested two weeks earlier for assaulting a security officer at a hospital. One of his neighbors, 72-year-old Betty, summed it up well, "I know he's crazy and everything. I would keep out of the elevator if I saw him. I wouldn't go near where he would be."

On Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, Flores slashed 72-year-old Eva Flores, his grandmother, to death with a meat cleaver and then shot and killed his unidentified prostitute girlfriend. Flores said he killed his grandmother because she wouldn't allow his girlfriend to stay in the home. Flores lived with his grandmother. It appears that he shot his girlfriend to shut her up.

Karmeirczak used guns to kill; Tarloff used a meat cleaver and a 9-inch knife and Flores used a meat cleaver and a pistol. Kameirczak and Tarloff were known nut-cases but allowed to run loose in the community. Flores, based on his actions, comes across as another nut-case. Gun control laws did nothing to stop them. In Karmeirczak's case state Sen. Dan Kotowski, a sponsor of a tougher law to keep mental cases from buying firearms, admits that it probably wouldn't have stopped him from buying firearms. On Feb. 9, Karmeirczak legally bought a shotgun and a 9mm pistol from a licensed gun shop. In Aug. 2007, he bought a 9mm pistol and in Dec. a .380 pistol.

John Boch, a Second Amendment proponent in Illinois said the answer is for the state to loosen its gun laws, not tighten them, so that students could have been able to shoot back. How trues that is.

The best defense against a nut with a gun or a meat cleaver is a firearm in the hands of the intended victim. It works everytime its tried. Criminals and crazies have little regard for "gun control" laws. In fact criminals support gun control laws as it's a government guarantee that there will be no firearms in any home, business or university they decide to enter. The biggest fear of criminals is that their next victim may be armed.
